1What is the process to establish care with your practice?

Once you call or email our office, we will reach out to schedule an initial call or direct you to fill out a screening survey online. This takes place prior to your initial visit to gather some information about you and help us better understand if you will be well-served by our practice. If we feel that you would be better served by other providers, we will let you know and remove your upcoming consultation. Be assured you will not be charged for this.

2What does a psychiatric consultation appointment involve?

New consultations are 90 minutes in length. This visit is designed for the psychiatrist to meet you, develop an understanding of who you are and your unique needs, craft an initial diagnostic assessment, and make a treatment recommendation. Follow up visits are 15-45 mins in length to check in on how your treatment is progressing.

3How can I pay for my treatment at Aven Harbor?

We accept Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and private/out-of-pocket payment. Our fees are as follows:

Screening call prior to first appointment No charge
Initial Consultation, 90 minutes $500
30 Minute Session $250
45 Minute Session $350
Out-of-appointment calls, including with your insurance $10/min
Form completion, per occurrence $75
4Do you offer psychotherapy/talk therapy?
Dr. Gordon and Dr. Matrick both offer psychotherapy. If you are interested in therapy, please reach out to check on availability and goodness of fit. We use an eclectic modality including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and cognitive processing therapy (CPT) as appropriate for your individual treatment plan. Note that to begin any form of treatment at Aven Harbor (therapy and/or medications), an initial consultation is required.
5What is your cancellation policy?
When you make an appointment, that time is reserved exclusively for you and your doctor to work together. If you need to reschedule your visit, please let us know as soon as possible. Any cancellation or reschedule less than 24 hours in advance will be charged the full rate of the visit at the time of cancellation/rescheduling. No-shows will also be charged the full rate of the visit. If you arrive late for your visit, please note that there may be insufficient time to make a thorough treatment plan and your doctor may request an additional follow-up visit to gather required information.
